Educators Receive $1,000 Athletic Grants from California Casualty
SAN MATEO, CA. May 20, 2024 – California Casualty is proud to announce the distribution of $1,000 Thomas R. Brown Athletic Grants to educators at 13 public middle and high schools spanning seven states to help support their school sports program(s). Since its inception in 2010, the Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant Program has helped to alleviate the financial burden of athletic programs in 763 public schools across the nation.

California Elementary School Teacher Wins a $10,000 Staycation from California Casualty Auto & Home Insurance
San Mateo, CA, December 19, 2022—Kathryn Winn, a Garden Grove Elementary school teacher and California Teachers Association member, was awarded California Casualty’s $10,000 Staycation Giveaway during a surprise presentation in front of her students and peers on December 16th. Winn, a veteran teacher, was chosen out of over 23,000 applicants nationwide for the contest that ran March–October 2022.
Kansas City Area Firefighter Wins a $10,000 Camping Giveaway from California Casualty Auto & Home Insurance
San Mateo, CA, December 16, 2022—During a surprise presentation held on December 13th, Kansas State Firefighters Association member, Angus Duff, was awarded California Casualty’s 2022 Work Hard/Play Hard $10,000 Camping Giveaway. Duff, a veteran firefighter and lead mechanic for Johnson County Consolidated Fire District No. 2, was chosen out of over 17,000 applicants nationwide for the contest that ran from January–November in 2022.
Congratulations to California Casualty’s 2022 Music and Arts Grant Recipients
San Mateo, October 13, 2022—After careful consideration of nearly 661 applications, California Casualty has designated 66 schools across 23 states as 2022 Music and Arts Grant awardees. The recipients – demonstrating a strong financial need to keep music and arts in their schools – will share $15,00 in grants; giving their students a chance to learn music, act in a school play, or hone their artistic talents throughout the 2022-2023 academic year.

Public Schools Across the Country Receive $1,000 Athletic Grants from California Casualty
San Mateo, CA, April 19, 2022—California Casualty re-launched its Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant Program just as student-athletes began the process of safely returning to youth sports in 2021. Of the 481 applications received for 2021/2022 grants, 51 public schools in 26 states each received $1,000 to support their sports program(s).
California Casualty Gives $15,000 to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation (CPOMF)
San Mateo, CA, March 17, 2022—The California Casualty Group donated $15,000 to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation (CPOMF) to fund education scholarships for dependents of California peace officers who have died in the line of duty. The financial contribution was made in support of the ongoing efforts of the CPOMF: to recognize and honor California’s fallen heroes and to provide services, financial assistance, advocacy and support to the surviving families left behind.
